Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior State Estimation Engineer in a remote/hybrid role based near Sunnyvale, CA, with travel to Mountain View as needed. You will drive onboard state estimation, localization, and sensor calibration for autonomous capabilities, leading projects and mentoring engineers.

The role requires a Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field and 8–10+ years of experience, with strong C++/Python skills and a track record in safety-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 8–10+ years of experience in state estimation, sensor calibration, and real-time onboard systems.
• Proven leadership in sensor calibration, state estimation, or localization for safety-critical systems.
• Strong C++ and Python software engineering skills; experience with development and testing tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy advanced state estimation and sensor calibration solutions.
• Lead complex projects from conception through validation to onboard deployment.
• Mentor engineers and influence engineering practices across teams.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary groups to integrate localization and sensor alignment into autonomous systems.
