Job summary

General Motors in the United States is recruiting a Software Engineer for the Software Validation team in the AV organization to develop methods, tools, and processes for validating autonomous vehicle behavior. You will translate validation strategies into production code that analyzes AV behavior and supports high-quality, scalable software releases.

Qualifications

Master's degree expected Spring 2026 in CS, ME, AE, Physics, Data Science, or related fields.
Experience in software engineering; bonus overlap with systems engineering, robotics, data or statistical analysis.
Strong skills using AI to accelerate software development.
Proficient with SQL, Python, and C++ for data analysis and production-quality simulation testing.

Responsibilities

Develop and prototype strategies to benchmark autonomy systems’ performance.
Convert validation strategies into production code that analyzes AV behavior.
Leverage data from in-simulation, on-bench, and on-road testing to inform AI developers.
Apply data analytics to enable data-driven design, risk analysis and prioritization.
Build tools to scale testing products for software release teams and Embodied AI.
Foster cross-team collaboration to establish coding best practices within Software Validation.
