Job summary

Ray Thomas seeks an experienced Litigation & Regulatory Paralegal to join our Austin office. This role supports a sophisticated regulatory practice, spanning contested matters, discovery, hearings, trial preparation, regulatory filings, and legal research.

Prior regulatory experience is not required; we welcome candidates with strong commercial and business litigation paralegal backgrounds transitioning into regulatory work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm environment.
• Strong litigation experience, ideally involving commercial or business matters.
• Experience with discovery, depositions, hearings, and/or trial preparation.
• Experience managing complex matters and tight deadlines.
• Strong e-filing, legal research, and document management skills.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Environmental, regulatory, energy, utilities, or electric power experience is a plus.
• Paralegal certification preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Support attorneys throughout complex regulatory and contested matters.
• Assist with discovery, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Draft discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, and disclosures.
• Coordinate document collection, review, production, and privilege logs.
• Prepare exhibits, witness materials, hearing notebooks, and case materials.
• Assist with preparation of testimony, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Prepare and submit electronic regulatory filings and supporting documentation.
• Track filing requirements, case deadlines, and post-hearing deadlines.
• Coordinate depositions, subpoenas, court reporters, and witness logistics.
• Conduct legal and regulatory research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other resources.
• Maintain case files, document repositories, and matter materials.
• Manage multiple active matters while supporting a busy team of attorneys.
