Job summary

Capital Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Team Leader to guide a regional team of commercial underwriters, manage production, and ensure underwriting quality across an assigned geography. You will oversee up to eight direct reports, balancing office and remote work environments.

You will provide technical direction on policy interpretation, oversee workflow, and uphold corporate underwriting standards while supporting senior agents and complex accounts.

Qualifications

• College degree (or equivalent) and seven to ten years of progressively challenging experience writing small to medium sized small business and middle market risks as a commercial lines underwriter.
• Ability to apply sound underwriting principles and manage an underwriting workload.
• Minimum of two to three years in a leadership or supervisory role directing the efforts of a professional team to manage agency relationships and business production.
• Completion of technical insurance coursework preferred, such as CPCU, AU, ARM, CRM or CIC.

Responsibilities

• Lead the underwriting and production efforts of a regional team of commercial underwriters in an assigned geography or regional sales territory.
• Provide technical direction to Commercial Lines team in interpretation of underwriting policies and procedures.
• Individual production responsibilities involving large and more complex technical accounts and support to top/middle tier agents.
