Job summary

Nationwide, a Fortune 100 company, is seeking a Specialist in Accounting on the Reconciliation Assurance team in Columbus, OH. Hybrid role requiring on-site presence at least two days per week.

You will plan, coordinate and perform the most complex accounting functions and analyze financial data for regulatory and internal management use. Role demands strong problem solving, curiosity, and communication skills, with familiarity or interest in Power BI and related technologies.

Qualifications

• GAAP and/or STAT knowledge and regulatory requirements.
• Experience preparing complex financial statements and regulatory reports.
• Strong ability to analyze, interpret financial data and communicate findings.

Responsibilities

• Lead establishment and implementation of new or revised accounting policies.
• Prepare sophisticated financial and regulatory statements for assigned areas.
• Develop and submit complex accounting transactions to ensure accurate reporting.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of reports and data for clients.
• Recommend actions when analysis shows unfavorable trends or deviations.
• Stay informed on changes to GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Lead development of new or enhanced systems and processes.
• Prepare pro forma data to comply with new requirements.
• Assist management in applying financial data to solve problems.
• Prepare state and supplemental reporting requirements.
• Provide complex financial information to auditors and regulators.
• Prepare special reports and presentations.
• Serve in a group leader capacity on projects.
