Job summary

Nationwide, a Fortune 100 financial services company, seeks a Senior Accountant for the Reconciliation Performance team in a hybrid Columbus, Ohio role. You will prepare reconciliations for cash, suspense and other balance sheet accounts, partnering across the organization to resolve items and build relationships.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and progress toward CPA.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in accounting or finance; accounting major and degree preferred.
• Progress towards CPA preferred.
• Two to four years of related accounting experience; Insurance experience preferred.
• GAAP and/or STAT knowledge, practices and procedures; insurance regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and analyzes financial documents for the company and/or business areas as assigned.
• Reviews reports for accuracy and proper documentation for internal and external submissions.
• Maintains accounting records for coordination and submission of required reports.
• Develops and submits complex accounting transactions to ensure proper reporting.
• Interacts with field staff or outside sources to resolve difficulties or discrepancies.
• Keeps informed of changes to GAAP and related regulations.
• Participates in system/process design and improvements.
