Job summary

Ferguson in LaPorte, Texas is hiring a Purchasing Agent to support site inventory, ordering materials, and vendor relationships. The role focuses on maintaining service levels and coordinating with internal teams to meet urgent deadlines.

It offers a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two remote days. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3+ years of purchasing experience, with strong Microsoft 365 skills and customer service focus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of purchasing or buying experience, preferably supporting a region or multiple stores
• Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills to respond to urgent situations
• Must be process oriented with good judgment and decision-making abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization
• Strong technical skills including Microsoft O365 applications

Responsibilities

• Work on Ferguson site for remote customer access
• Compile and maintain information and records to prepare purchase orders
• Contact vendors and suppliers for quotations and maintain key relationships
• Manage file maintenance for products bought from the vendor, including pricing
• Manage system settings governing buy quantities to achieve company goals for inventory and service levels
• Work closely with customer to ensure purchasing related questions/issues are addressed
• Provide direction and mentorship to less experienced team members
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety standards and policies, ensuring the safety of the associate and others
• Display high levels of customer service working with internal customers
