Job summary

Babcock & Wilcox in Akron, Ohio seeks a Proposal Specialist to develop technical and commercial proposals for new equipment, retrofit projects, and aftermarket services. You will work with sales, engineering, and operations to craft winning documents.

You will coordinate cross-functional activities, review specs and contracts, shape scope, pricing, and terms, and ensure timely submission while managing multiple opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum 3 years in power/industrial equipment or related industries.
• Experience reading technical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and deadlines.
• Familiarity with ERP/CRM/PLM systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete technical and commercial proposals in response to customer requests and bid opportunities.
• Review customer specs, drawings, contracts to determine scope and proposal requirements.
• Coordinate cross-functional proposal activities with engineering, sales, supply chain, and operations.
• Assist in pricing, strategies, schedules, and commercial terms for bids.
• Research historical project data to support scope and proposal accuracy.
• Prepare proposal exceptions, cost summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Facilitate proposal reviews, status updates, and approvals per policy.
• Interface with customers, sales reps, engineers, and partners during proposals.
• Track progress, manage multiple opportunities, ensure timely submissions.
• Support post-bid activities including follow-up, negotiations, and turnover.
