Job summary

The Association for Energy Affordability, Inc. (AEA West) is seeking a Project Associate to join our team focused on energy efficiency, decarbonization, and green building projects in the greater Los Angeles region.

You will perform energy audits, modeling, and retrofit project design in collaboration with property owners and building teams. Ideal candidates bring a bachelor’s or related degree and at least two years of experience, with strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, building science, or energy conservation preferred or an Associate Degree with relevant experience.
• Two years of prior experience in a related role.
• Excellent communication, organization, presentation, and analytical skills.
• The 'Associate, Projects' title includes two levels: 'Associate I' and 'Associate II'.

Responsibilities

• Conduct energy audits and field assessments for multifamily buildings.
• Perform energy modeling and building simulations.
• Prepare energy and green building assessment reports with equipment specs and cost/emissions analysis.
• Job costing, construction feasibility, and contractor bid walks
• Coordinate with building owners, architects, and decision makers to implement energy efficiency upgrades
• Conduct LEED, HERS consulting, and commissioning studies
• Provide training on energy efficiency technologies and decarbonized building operations
• Engage in national projects to develop industry standards
