Job summary

Syska Hennessy Group is seeking a self-motivated Project Accounting I - Project Accountant II to join our Charlotte, NC office (also in Hamilton, NJ, Richmond, VA or Washington D.C.). The role emphasizes strong organizational skills, clear communication, and problem-solving abilities.

The candidate will manage project accounting tasks, monitor budgets and revenue recognition, and support variance analyses while collaborating with project teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the Production Group's actual vs. budget and report variances.
• Manage projects: opening, costing, tracking and financial closure.
• Perform revenue recognition reviews on projects.
• Monitor project revenue and assist with variance resolution.
• Oversee period close and ensure entries are posted accurately.
• Conduct period-end meetings and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate financial activities between project/contract and Accounting.
• Handle budgeting, collections and P&L review for projects.
