Job summary

HellermannTyton in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking a Product Development Engineer III to join the team and drive innovative plastic routing and clipping solutions from concept to production.

You will design, analyze, and validate parts and assemblies using CAD, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with industry standards, and mentor teammates while coordinating with Sales, Marketing, and customers.

Qualifications

• BSME with 5+ years of professional experience or MSME with 3+ years of professional experience.
• CAD Skills: 5+ years of CAD software experience, advanced 3D modeling skills, GD&T, ASME Y14.5 and ISO 128.
• Manufacturing knowledge: DFM for injection molding of medium to high complexity designs.
• Material property knowledge of medium to high depth.
• Familiar with CE, UL, USCAR regulations impacting HT products.
• Perform DFMEA/DFM risk analyses to support product reliability.
• Good written and verbal communication; able to present to management and customers.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary CAD models and drawings for quotes or proposals.
• Evaluate requirements, create design specifications, and review standards.
• Participate in client meetings and support customer inquiries.
• Design for manufacturability including parting lines, slides, assembly, and cost.
• Host peer and project team design reviews and approve product performance.
• Create DFMEAs and risk assessments for projects.
• Interact with suppliers and Operations to address manufacturability issues.
• Manage final design validation planning and develop DVP&R.
• Review drawings created by other designers and issue ECNs.
