Placements24 is seeking a Process Optimization Engineer to boost efficiency at mining facilities near Welkom. The role combines chemical engineering expertise with data analytics to identify bottlenecks and drive cost reductions while improving product recovery.

You will work on-site in Welkom with hybrid data-analysis tasks, contributing to safer, more sustainable mineral processing operations and collaborating with metallurgists and plant teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in process engineering within mining/mineral processing.
• Experience with process optimization techniques and statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., HSC Chemistry, Outotec HSC).
• Strong understanding of hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing chemical processes in mining operations to identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize process parameters, enhance throughput, and reduce costs.
• Utilize process simulation software and data analysis tools to model and predict process performance.
• Troubleshoot operational challenges and implement data-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with plant engineers and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of process changes.
• Monitor KPIs and report on process efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensure all changes comply with SHE standards.
• Research and propose new technologies to improve process performance.
• Conduct root cause analysis for process upsets and implement preventive measures.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to management.
