Placements24 is seeking a Process Metallurgist for operations near Welkom, SA. The role blends on-site analysis with off-site strategy to optimize mineral processing circuits, improve metal recovery and product quality.

You will troubleshoot, design test programs, and implement improvements while collaborating with operators, engineers and management in a safety- and quality-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in process metallurgy for base or precious metals.
• Strong knowledge of comminution, solid-liquid separation, flotation, leaching, and electrowinning.
• Experience with metallurgical simulation software (METSIM, HSC Chemistry) is an advantage.
• Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of metallurgical test results.

Responsabilités

• Monitor and analyze metallurgical plant performance data to identify improvements.
• Troubleshoot grinding, flotation, leaching and other downstream processing issues.
• Design and run lab and pilot-scale test programs to optimize parameters.
• Develop strategies to improve recovery, concentrate grades, and plant efficiency.
• Prepare detailed metallurgical reports with test results and recommendations.
• Collaborate with operators, engineers and management for safe operation.
• Stay updated on metallurgical developments relevant to mineral processing.
• Assist in development and commissioning of new processes or equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards.
