Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Metallurgical Process Engineer for operations near Welkom in the Free State. The role focuses on optimizing recovery and processing of minerals from ore, with emphasis on comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining.

You will design, test, and implement process improvements, work with operations teams and laboratory staff, and support safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of metallurgical process engineering experience in mining preferred.
• Experience with comminution, flotation, leaching, and mineral processing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing metallurgical processes to improve recovery and reduce costs.
• Design and conduct pilot plant and laboratory tests to evaluate new processing technologies.
• Develop process simulations and models to predict and improve performance.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective solutions in the processing plant.
• Ensure safety, health, and environmental regulatory compliance in metallurgical operations.
• Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with operations to implement changes and provide training.
• Monitor KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist in commissioning of new equipment and plant modifications.
