Job summary
Johnson Matthey plc in West Deptford, NJ is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to lead the development of control system strategies and support both batch and continuous chemical processes. The role focuses on advancing process performance, scalability, and reliability across the R&D environment.
The position involves technical leadership on automation projects, troubleshooting control systems, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemical, Electrical or related engineering discipline with strong industrial process control experience.
- Experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs (PLC5, MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix) using Rockwell software.
- Experience with SCADA systems, ideally FactoryTalk View SE.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation, process control and motor control including VFDs.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of long-term control system strategies to improve process performance.
- Act as technical lead on controls and automation projects for batch and continuous processes.
- Provide expert troubleshooting for control systems, networks and plant operations.
- Define and implement control and automation standards in safety, regulatory and PSM compliance.
- Identify and deliver improvements to instrumentation, electrical and system performance.
