Job summary

Citi is seeking a hands‑on Principal Engineer (Vice President) to design, build, and evolve high‑quality software at global scale. You will mentor engineers, influence architecture, and contribute to multiple teams with full‑stack responsibilities using modern cloud‑based development and agile practices.

The role emphasizes leadership in technical excellence, collaboration with stakeholders, and delivering impactful software solutions across the Citi tech ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with Java and production‑grade apps.
• Cloud-native development with container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Experience designing microservices and SOA with RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• Strong Java framework experience (Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, or Vert.x).
• Commitment to best practices: unit testing, automation, patterns, and code reviews.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tooling (Tekton, Harness, CircleCI or Jenkins).
• Experience in agile delivery and sprint ceremonies across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build full‑stack features using Java across multiple agile teams.
• Define and influence overall system architecture for scalability and resilience.
• Deliver against sprint commitments as an active contributor to agile cycles.
• Provide expert technical guidance and promote engineering excellence.
• Evaluate new technologies and tooling for adoption to improve outcomes.
• Partner with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
