Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to lead the design and delivery of data solutions enabling self-service analytics, data quality governance, and informed decision-making. Hybrid role in McLean, VA with on-site presence as required.

The role requires 5+ years of data analytics experience (or 3+ years with a Master’s) in quantitative fields, strong scripting (Python, R, Spark, SQL), and deep AWS experience for data platforms such as Snowflake/Onelake and Databricks.

Qualifications

• Degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics discipline.
• Scripting experience with Python, R, Spark, and SQL.
• Experience with data in warehouses/SQL and unstructured data.
• Experience using and developing within AWS services.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field plus at least 5 years of data analytics experience or Master’s Degree plus at least 3 years.
• At least 3 years of experience with one scripting language.
• At least 3 years of experience using a business intelligence visualization tool.
• At least 3 years of experience querying, analyzing, and working with data languages and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Mine complex, high-volume data sources using Open Source and digital technologies.
• Build and maintain data solutions and self-service frameworks for data consumers.
• Learn and apply new technologies to advance initiatives.
• Translate requirements into tools, metrics, and dashboards for insight.
• Drive analyses that deliver meaningful business insights.
• Support data quality management principles including metadata and lineage.
• Collaborate with Tech teams to manage security and data access governance.
• Build and execute tools to monitor and report on data quality.
