Job summary

Consumers Energy in Michigan is seeking an Operations Engineer to ensure the electric system operates within limits using SCADA and power flow analysis. The role collaborates with control centers, ITC Holdings, and field operations, with on-call rotation for real-time support.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in engineering (ABET-accredited) and 2+ years of experience, or a PE license with 2+ years, and are willing to relocate to Jackson, MI in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree with 2+ years of experience or PE license with 2+ years experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct engineering study analysis and problem solving based on power flow results.
• Provide real-time support to control room and scheduling departments.
• Assist in annual Ancillary projects and rotation items related to load management.
• Attend and participate in meetings, providing timely follow-up.
• Apply protection schemes knowledge to predict and validate faults in real time.
• Contribute to new processes, tools, and training for real-time operations.
• Offer operational analysis for field equipment like automatic transfer reclosers.
