Job summary

Consumers Energy in Michigan is seeking an Operations Engineer to ensure the electric system operates within limits. The role uses power flow software and SCADA to analyze outages and contingencies, coordinating with Control Centers and field operations.

The candidate will participate in an on-call rotation and occasional travel to ensure reliability. The position requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 2+ years of experience or a non-ABET degree with a PE license and 2+

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree with two or more years of experience
• Engineering degree with PE license and two or more years of experience

Responsibilities

• Conduct engineering study analysis using power flow software to identify overloads and voltage violations
• Provide real-time support to control room and scheduling during operations and on-call rotations
• Assist in rotating annual projects like Rotating Load Management and interconnection reviews
• Attend meetings and provide timely follow-up and answers in real time
• Provide fault location validation using protection schemes and device states
• Contribute to new processes, tools, and training for real-time operations
