Job summary

Ampacity is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and compliant payroll processing for a growing team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will oversee weekly payroll cycles, garnishments, and serve as the primary contact for employee payroll questions.

This role is partially onsite (1-2 days) and offers a hybrid model at the Monterey Bay HQ. Location: Hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days onsite.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience, with demonstrated ability to manage accurate, deadline-driven payroll cycles.
• Experience with construction is a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Windows; NetSuite and HeavyJob (HCSS) experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Calculate weekly per diem, travel and mileage allowances with accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage weekly child support and garnishments; reconcile accounts monthly.
• Process weekly vehicle allowances and payroll advances.
• Monitor unemployment claims and respond to state inquiries.
• Assist with payroll tax software testing and audits.
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting on payroll strategies and improvements.
