Job summary

Ampacity is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and compliant payroll processing for our growing team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will oversee weekly payroll cycles, garnishments, and serve as the primary contact for payroll-related questions. This role is partially remote (1-2 days on-site weekly) and requires attention to detail and timely delivery.

Location: Hybrid model with 1-2 days on-site at the Monterey Bay HQ Office. Pay range: $28-$32 per hour.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience with accurate, deadline-driven cycles.
• Construction payroll experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Windows; NetSuite and HeavyJob experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Calculate weekly per diem, travel, and mileage with accuracy.
• Manage weekly garnishments and child support, process payments, reconcile accounts monthly.
• Process weekly vehicle allowances and payroll advances.
• Monitor unemployment claims and respond to state inquiries promptly.
• Assist with payroll tax software testing and updates.
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting on payroll strategies and improvements.
