LHH US in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead a large, multi-state payroll operation. The role requires hands-on leadership, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across locations, while guiding a payroll team and maintaining compliance with all regulations.

You will collaborate with HR, Accounting and Finance, manage month-end close and audits, and support ERP system upgrades. A strong candidate will have 3+ years of leadership, advanced Excel skills, and knowledge of major

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll leadership experience.
• Experience processing large volume payrolls across locations.
• Knowledge of multi-state payroll laws and compliance.
• Experience with major ERP payroll modules (Oracle, SAP, Workday, UKG, Dayforce, ADP).
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• CPP certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processes across locations and jurisdictions.
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
• Lead, mentor, and develop payroll staff with best practices.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting activities.
• Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Finance to ensure accuracy.
• Analyze payroll data, identify discrepancies, and implement fixes.
• Support system upgrades, testing, and ERP enhancements.
• Develop payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Serve as escalation point for complex payroll issues.
