Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to oversee payroll aspects of company leave programs, including STI, FMLA, and PPL. You will manage calculations, reconciliations, and reporting, partnering with IT, Benefits, and Labor Accounting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s in accounting with 3+ years in finance/payroll; CPP preferred. Hybrid work in San Diego area is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or related discipline; 3+ years of progressive experience in finance/payroll.
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.
• Must have knowledge of payroll processes and compliance.
• Experience with calculating leave of absence pay and state off-sets.
• Experience in a multi-state environment.
• Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
• Proficient with HRIS systems and payroll software; SAP experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and monitor payroll components associated with employee leave programs.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of leave-related payroll transactions.
• Calculate employee compensation during leave per regulations and company programs.
• Coordinate with multi-state agencies for compliance of benefits and payroll.
• Maintain accurate payroll and leave records for reporting and controls.
• Perform reconciliations of company-paid leave across states and resolve discrepancies.
• Support audits with required documentation and reports.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with Benefits, Leave Administration, and Labor Accounting teams.
