Job summary

Merchant & Gould is seeking a patent prosecution legal assistant in a hybrid role. The candidate will support attorneys in prosecuting U.S. patent applications, maintain patent files, and coordinate with clients and foreign associates.

The ideal candidate has five or more years of U.S. patent prosecution experience, familiarity with USPTO procedures, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in U.S. patent prosecution.
• Familiarity with USPTO rules and electronic filing.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains patent files and prepares filing documents.
• Reviews correspondence from USPTO and foreign associates for docketing.
• Maintains client portfolios and facilitates attorney-client communication.
• Maintains and updates docketing logs.
• Communicates with attorneys, clients and foreign associates; performs other tasks as needed.
