Job summary

Fish & Richardson, the premier global IP law firm, invites a Patent Paralegal (IDS/Formalities) to join the Practice Systems Department in Washington, DC. You will prepare, file, and manage information disclosure statements and formal documents, and maintain a prosecution docket.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's or ABA–recognized Paralegal Certificate and at least 6 months of patent paralegal experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA recognized program or equivalent experience in legal support.
• Minimum 6 months experience as a Patent Paralegal with U.S. and/or foreign prosecution knowledge.
• Preparation and filing of information disclosure statements and formal documents experience.
• Ability to meet the firm’s billing requirement of 1300 hours per year.
• Willingness to assist other team members and work well in a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in the office as needed for training and collaboration, for a minimum of 3 days per month.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare, obtain, and file documents related to information disclosure statements, formalities, and responses to office actions.
• Maintain and manage a prosecution docket and follow up on items to ensure due dates and deadlines are met.
• Account for all hours worked on a daily basis by entering time into the firm’s timekeeping system in order to achieve the billable goal as established by practice management.
