Job summary

University of Washington’s Department of Surgery seeks a Manager, General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. The role oversees day-to-day divisional operations, budgets, and staff within the two large divisions, ensuring compliance with policies and strategic priorities.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule (two remote days/week), requires leadership of multiple teams, and involves collaboration with division chiefs, faculty, and operational partners to strengthen infrastructure and support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of progressively responsible administrative or operational management experience in healthcare or related complex environment.
• Experience supervising 2.0 FTE or more, including hiring, evaluation, and corrective action.
• Experience in budget operations, including creating operating budgets and reconciling variances.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day divisional operations, budgets, and salary distributions.
• Supervise a team of operational and administrative staff across two divisions.
• Lead process improvement and workflow design for divisional operations.
• Develop dashboards and routine reporting to support decision-making.
• Coordinate with HR on staffing and performance management.
