Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. is hiring for an Operations Accountant (SGL15) in a hybrid role, with office locations in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Maine. You will record financial information, prepare reports, and ensure GAAP compliance across subsidiaries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting required.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience required.
• Proficiency in Excel required.
• Regulated utility accounting a plus; knowledge of GAAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and complete both standard and complex journal entries in accordance with month-end close schedule pertaining to payroll and expenses.
• Prepare all entries in accordance with the deadlines per the close calendar.
• Perform trend analysis on accounts as assigned.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Initiate ideas for process improvements and engage in the successful implementation of those ideas.
• Prepare work in an organized and thorough manner ensuring ease of management review.
• Independently resolve issues.
• Work closely with the State Ops and FP&A departments on coding, research and questions.
• Work on special projects, engaging individuals within the department as well as externally to see initiatives to their completion.
• Prepare for and assist in completing annual audit including: Complete PBC schedules on a timely basis.
• Maintain accounting in compliance with GAAP and regulatory authorities.
• Respond to auditors' questions in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
