Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. is seeking an Operations Accountant (SGL15) for a hybrid role that may be based at multiple office locations. You will apply GAAP to record financial information and produce reports for Summit and subsidiaries.

Key duties include preparing journal entries for month‑end close, reconciling balance sheet accounts, analyzing trends, supporting audits, and collaborating with FP&A and State Ops on coding and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience required.
• Regulated utility accounting a plus.
• Proficiency in the use of Excel required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and complete both standard and complex journal entries in accordance with month-end close schedule pertaining to payroll and expenses.
• Prepare all entries in accordance with the deadlines per the close calendar.
• Perform trend analysis on accounts as assigned.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Initiate ideas for process improvements and engage in the successful implementation of those ideas.
• Prepare for and assist in completing annual audit including: Complete PBC schedules on a timely basis; Maintain accounting in compliance with GAAP and regulatory authorities; Respond to auditors' questions.
