Job summary

City University of New York's SEEK Academic Counselor provides proactive student support to help with enrollment, retention, and graduation for SEEK students. This hybrid role works closely with Registrar, Financial Aid, and Career Services, guiding degree mapping and registration while coordinating SEEK programming.

The position emphasizes data-driven outreach, individualized degree completion plans, and referrals to campus resources. Evening/weekend flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or psychology; two years' related experience.
• Note: this is not a mental health counseling role.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive outreach and collaborate with offices to assist students in resolving issues.
• Guide students through degree mapping, course registration, major selection, and financial aid.
• Develop and coordinate SEEK programming and create academic plans from admission to graduation.
• Refer students to campus resources and outside agencies as needed.
• Support department activities and participate in school-wide events.
