Friedman Williams is seeking a junior-level Data Privacy & Consumer Litigation Associate in New York City. The role offers hands-on experience in complex plaintiff-side matters and collaboration with experienced partners on data privacy and consumer protection class actions.

The incoming associate will handle all phases of litigation, from initial evaluation to discovery, depositions, and trial preparation, with a focus on developing specialized expertise in this evolving field.

Qualifications

• Approximately 2+ years of litigation experience.
• New York Bar admission required.
• Experience with complex civil litigation, class actions, consumer protection, or data privacy matters.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills with experience drafting substantive documents.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to independently manage assignments and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and collaboration with partners and associates.
• Interest in developing expertise in consumer protection and data privacy litigation.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate potential consumer protection, data privacy, and related litigation claims.
• Draft complaints, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal and factual research to support case development.
• Review terms of service, privacy policies, and arbitration provisions.
• Assist with developing litigations strategies and case evaluations.
• Draft and respond to written discovery and requests for admission.
• Review documents for relevance, confidentiality, and privilege.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions and trial preparation.
• Assist with mediation, settlement negotiations, and related proceedings.
• Communicate with clients, co-counsel, and litigation team.
