Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Network Threat Hunter to proactively identify threats within Verizon's network. You will combine security and networking expertise to analyze data, generate actionable artifacts, and support incident response.

This hybrid role involves collaboration with threat intelligence partners and ongoing development of hunting methodologies. Requirements include 4+ years in relevant security roles, strong analytical skills, and experience with Splunk, data analytics, and scripting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.
• Four more years of experience in designing, testing or operating networks with switching and routing experience (including OSI model, protocols, BGP data and Netflow).
• Four or more years of experience in cyber related fields including but not limited to cyber security, information technology, SIEM security tools, cyber security investigations, network security, and incident response.
• Master’s Degree or certifications in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Cyber Security, Systems Engineering or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Staying up-to-date on emerging global threat activity and trends affecting telecommunications infrastructure.
• Lead analysis of network traffic and events, identifying threats missed by automated tools and presenting insights to stakeholders.
• Create and evolve network threat hunting techniques using incidents and breaches data.
• Conduct time-sensitive analysis during cyber investigations, including malware analysis.
• Identify threat vectors and vulnerabilities via threat research and data analysis of logs, malware, and traffic.
• Develop hypotheses and predictions of possible network threats and validate with partner teams.
• Maintain documentation on threat hunting findings, processes, and handoffs.
