Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Insurance seeks an Insurance Consumer Analyst I (S) to provide counseling and education to consumers on Medicare and related health-insurance issues via phone, in-person meetings and online support. You will assess needs, confirm information, and deliver clear responses, with an emphasis on seniors and individuals with disabilities.

This role offers a hybrid schedule with routine office work and up to one remote day per week, and requires knowledge of Medicare

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or economics and 1 year of experience in insurance underwriting, claims, or policyholder service, or an equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of Medicare, health insurance products, and claims procedures is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling and assistance to consumers on health insurance issues.
• Assess consumer needs and verify information.
• Refer complex inquiries to appropriate staff and coordinate follow-up.
• Educate seniors and individuals with disabilities about Medicare programs.
