Job summary

ReGenesis Health Care in Spartanburg, SC seeks a Medical Coding Coordinator for a hybrid remote, full-time role. You will lead coding quality, compliance, and education across the organization, collaborating with Revenue Cycle and Billing to optimize reimbursement.

The ideal candidate holds a coding certification, a 4-year degree, and at least 5 years of coding experience with 3 years in leadership. This role offers a quarterly incentive and benefits.

Qualifications

• Current nationally recognized medical coding certification (CPC, CCS-P, CRC, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent).
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional medical coding experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of healthcare coding leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
• Demonstrated experience conducting coding audits and provider documentation reviews.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, CMS coding requirements, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements.
• Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review daily charges and coding for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate reimbursement.
• Audit provider documentation to ensure diagnoses and procedures are adequately supported.
• Review claims to ensure diagnosis and procedure codes are appropriately assigned and linked.
• Conduct coding audits and identify documentation, compliance, and reimbursement opportunities.
• Monitor coding accuracy and recommend corrective actions when issues are identified.
• Analyze claim denial trends and identify coding-related root causes.
• Partner with Revenue Cycle and Billing teams to develop strategies to reduce preventable denials.
• Provide coding education, coaching, and ongoing support to providers, coders, and clinical staff.
• Communicate documentation and coding improvement opportunities to providers and leadership.
• Develop, implement, and maintain coding workflows, processes, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor applicable coding, payer, and regulatory updates and communicate changes to appropriate stakeholders.
• Support compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Billing, Compliance, Clinical Operations, and Provider Leadership.
• Assist with coding quality assurance and compliance initiatives.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to coding team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
