The ideal candidate holds a coding certification, a 4-year degree, and at least 5 years of coding experience with 3 years in leadership. This role offers a quarterly incentive and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Current nationally recognized medical coding certification (CPC, CCS-P, CRC, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional medical coding experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of healthcare coding leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting coding audits and provider documentation reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, CMS coding requirements, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements.
  • Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily charges and coding for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Audit provider documentation to ensure diagnoses and procedures are adequately supported.
  • Review claims to ensure diagnosis and procedure codes are appropriately assigned and linked.
  • Conduct coding audits and identify documentation, compliance, and reimbursement opportunities.
  • Monitor coding accuracy and recommend corrective actions when issues are identified.
  • Analyze claim denial trends and identify coding-related root causes.
  • Partner with Revenue Cycle and Billing teams to develop strategies to reduce preventable denials.
  • Provide coding education, coaching, and ongoing support to providers, coders, and clinical staff.
  • Communicate documentation and coding improvement opportunities to providers and leadership.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain coding workflows, processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor applicable coding, payer, and regulatory updates and communicate changes to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Billing, Compliance, Clinical Operations, and Provider Leadership.
  • Assist with coding quality assurance and compliance initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to coding team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Are you an experienced certified medical coding professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for coding accuracy, compliance, and revenue cycle improvement?

ReGenesis Health Care, a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is seeking an experienced Medical Coding Coordinator to help lead coding quality, compliance, provider education, and workflow improvement across our organization.

This position is ideal for a coding professional who enjoys analyzing complex coding issues, conducting audits, reducing denials, educating providers and staff, and identifying opportunities to improve reimbursement and documentation.

You’ll collaborate with providers, Revenue Cycle, Billing, Compliance, and Clinical Operations to support accurate reimbursement while maintaining compliance with applicable coding and payer requirements.

Hybrid Remote Position

This position is primarily remote with occasional on-site responsibilities in Spartanburg, South Carolina, including meetings, training, audits, or other business needs.

Candidates must be able to meet the position’s on-site requirements when requested.

Compensation

$21.00–$26.75 per hour, based on experience, certification, education, and qualifications.

Additional compensation includes:

  • Quarterly incentive bonus program
  • Eligibility for the incentive program after 90 days
  • Average annual bonus opportunity of approximately $2,000, based on applicable program requirements and performance

What You’ll Do

Required Qualifications
  • Current nationally recognized medical coding certification, such as:
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
    • Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P)
    • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC)
    • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
    • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
    • Or another applicable nationally recognized coding credential
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional medical coding experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of healthcare coding leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting coding audits and provider documentation reviews.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • ICD-10-CM
    • CPT
    • HCPCS
    • CMS coding requirements

    • Commercial insurance
  • Strong knowledge of coding compliance and reimbursement principles.
