Job summary

IMEG is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10–12 week summer program in Long Island, NY. You will assist in the analysis, design, and oversight of mechanical systems for government/municipal and science/technology projects, working with experienced engineers and cross‑functional teams.

The role emphasizes hands‑on project work, mentorship, and potential for full‑time opportunities after the internship.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Strong interest in design consulting
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Skilled in AutoCAD and BIM software
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical system design portions of projects according to code and IMEG standards
• Assist with researching commercially available equipment
• Assist with client relations and documentation for permanent records
• Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, etc.)
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring progress
• Review project documents for accuracy prior to final checks
• Prepare and issue addendum information
• Conduct periodic job site observations and other required services
