Job summary

Talanto is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program in Long Island, NY. You will assist in the analysis, design, and oversight of mechanical systems for government/municipal and science & technology projects, working closely with experienced engineers and consultants.

You will gain hands-on experience supporting real project work from day one, with a structured mentorship and potential pathway to full-time opportunities within the 100% employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years toward a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Skilled in AutoCAD and BIM software.
• Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical system design portions per code and standards.
• Assist with researching commercially available equipment.
• Assist with client relations and documentation for permanent records.
• Coordinate design and scheduling with disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers).
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy prior to final checks.
• Prepare and issue addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations as required by the contract.
