Job summary

Westinghouse in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 1 to join our New Components & BWR Engineering team. You will provide technical support for large component design, analysis, and fabrication, with emphasis on replacement steam generators and AP1000 primary components.

The role offers a hybrid work schedule and opportunities for on-site collaboration with customers and vendors, plus occasional travel to nuclear plants.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Nuclear Engineering.
• Experience performing analytical calculations (structural, dynamic, thermal-hydraulic).
• Develop design documentation and associated calculations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for large component design, analysis, and fabrication.
• Perform structural, dynamic and thermal-hydraulic calculations and document results.
• Develop design documentation including drawings, specifications and qualification reports.
• Coordinate with technical leads, PMs, and customers on activity scope.
• Occasionally travel to customer and vendor sites for on-site support and issue resolution.
• Willing to support travel to a nuclear plant.
