Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Mechanical Controls Engineer to join our Federal design team in Virginia Beach. You will lead control system design and integration for HVAC/BAS projects, coordinating with other trades and senior staff to deliver reliable building services solutions.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering, 5+ years in HVAC controls, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain a security clearance. Travel of travel as needed and a hybrid work model are supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in control system design and engineering, specifically HVAC Controls and BAS/BMS (Federal including DoD, Federal Civilian and/or Defense Contractor project experience preferred).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• United States Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of control system design and engineering, including preparation of construction documents, schematic control diagrams, network riser diagrams, and specifications.
• Perform site surveys of existing control systems and coordinate the design requirements with building operators and engineers.
• Review shop drawings and product submittals for control systems.
• May provide technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel.
• Maintain effective communication with project team members as well as the client.
