Job summary

System One in Lafayette, Louisiana is seeking a Manual QA Test Engineer to join our direct-hire team. This hybrid role combines onsite collaboration with remote work, supporting web and mobile applications across the full testing lifecycle.

You will develop and execute test cases, log defects in Jira/Azure DevOps/Bugzilla, and work with developers and product teams to deliver high-quality releases. Strong analytical skills, SQL data validation, and clear communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of manual testing experience.
• Knowledge of STLC and SDLC.
• Ability to write clear test cases, scenarios, and test plans from scratch.
• Experience logging defects with Jira, Azure DevOps, or Bugzilla.
• Hands-on testing of web and/or mobile applications.
• Strong analytical skills to spot gaps and edge cases.
• SQL knowledge to validate data during testing.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Curiosity and creativity in finding issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test cases, validate functionality across web and mobile platforms, and partner with developers and product teams to ensure high quality releases.
• Dig into requirements, catch edge cases, and help deliver reliable software in an Agile setting.
• Log and track defects using Jira (or Azure DevOps, Bugzilla).
• Perform functional and non-functional testing, and validate data using SQL.
• Identify gaps in requirements and think through edge cases to improve test coverage.
