Job summary

Chamberlain Hrdlicka in Houston, Texas, seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys from case inception to trial. The role requires four days in the office with one remote day, reporting to Supervising Shareholders and the Director of Human Resources.

Daily duties include preparing petitions, discovery, and motions; handling depositions, trial notebooks, and witness kits; coordinating with experts and managing Relativity-based discovery workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of trial/arbitration litigation experience in a private law firm.
• Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred.
• Paralegal certificate preferred.
• Experience with Relativity ESI discovery platform.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task and handle pressure situations.
• Excellent organizational, team collaboration, and attention to detail skills.
• High degree of initiative and solid work ethic.
• Excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Styles.
• Ability to work occasional overtime and weekends, especially for trial/arbitration preparation.
• Some travel to out of town or out of state may be required.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

• Prepare petitions, discovery requests, and motions under supervision of section attorneys.
• Prepare case correspondence to clients.
• Attend depositions, hearings, trials, and arbitrations.
• Prepare notebooks and witness kits for depositions/arbitrations/trials.
• Prepare subpoenas and releases for records across several domains.
• Perform background and social media searches on parties and potential witnesses.
• Conduct case law research and cite checking.
• Coordinate retention of experts and deliver materials for evaluation.
• Prepare deposition and medical records summaries.
• Organize client documents, pleadings, and ESI for production.
• Track pre-trial deadlines and scheduling orders.
• Create document productions using Relativity.
• Develop timelines of events for each case.
• Research statutes/regulations and provide written analysis to attorneys.
• Communicate professionally with clients and opposing counsel.
• Perform other litigation duties as assigned.
