Job summary

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm, seeks a Litigation Docketing Manager for its New York office. The role oversees the litigation docket, deadlines, and reporting for federal, state, and local matters, directing docket clerks and specialists.

You will advise on court rules, manage filings, and develop policies, while coordinating with outside service providers and court staff. Strong leadership and extensive docketing software experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including 3-5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Proficient with court-related databases (e.g., PACER, NYSCEF, CourtAlert.com, Bloomberg).
• Hands-on experience with rules-based calendaring software (e.g., CompuLaw or ProLaw).
• Strong familiarity with litigation practice, including federal, state, and local court systems and electronic filing systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the litigation docket and calendar; ensures all incoming and outgoing documents are recorded and procedural deadlines are calculated and tracked accurately.
• Advises attorneys on state, local, and federal court rules and practices; participates in developing and maintaining firmwide docketing policies and best practices.
• Coordinates outside legal services such as service of process and document retrieval; identifies and interfaces with private investigators as needed.
• Develops working relationships with court and judicial personnel, process servers, and couriers; manages non-substantive communications with court staff.
• Programs, runs, and delivers docket reports and ad hoc reports to attorneys and legal staff.
• Monitors active matters in state and federal courts and government agencies using databases such as eTracks and CourtAlert.com; verifies docket accuracy through spot checks.
