The role involves maintaining the docket system, generating comprehensive reports, responding to inquiries, and researching complex issues prior to escalation.

The position reports to Legal Practice Support Management and requires hybrid in-office/remote work in select CA locations.

Qualifications

• Experience handling complex docketing in litigation across multiple courts and jurisdictions.
• Ability to research deadlines, local rules, and court procedures.
• Experience training staff and attorneys on docket software and calendaring procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the computerized docket system for litigation attorneys practicing in multiple courts and jurisdictions.
• Reviews correspondence, pleadings, discovery, filings and deposition notices for relevant deadlines and performs extensive daily data entry into the calendaring database.
• Manages complex, high end docketing work (e.g. scheduling orders).
• Research questions from attorneys, paralegals and/or secretaries regarding deadlines, calculations of deadlines, local rules, etc.
• Responds to requests regarding calendared events, pleadings, and court procedures and modifications to compliance dates on the docket calendar.
• References and research court codes, state and federal statutes, court websites and Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw as appropriate.
• Enters parameters, run, print, and distribute reports as necessary.

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Litigation Docket Specialist to support our litigation practice firmwide. The Litigation Docket Specialist is expected to provide comprehensive docket reports to case teams, answer any questions that may arise, and research complex issues before escalating to their manager. Additionally, the Litigation Docket Specialist will train staff and attorneys on the Firm’s docket software and the proper procedures related to docket/calendaring, as required. Reporting to the Legal Practice Support Management team, the Litigation Docket Specialist will be able to seek guidance from the Senior Litigation Docket Specialist and the Supervisor of Legal Practice Support Operations.

This position will reside in any of the following locations: Century City, Los Angeles, Orange County, Seattle, San Francisco, or Silicon Valley (Palo Alto), with a hybrid in‑office/remote working schedule. Flexibility to work overtime required.
