Job summary

Seattle-based international law firm seeks a Litigation Associate (1–10 years) to join its growing defense team. The role offers hands-on experience across complex matters, including insurance defense and liability defense, with emphasis on strategic case development and client liaison.

Responsibilities include taking depositions, drafting pleadings, researching with Westlaw/Lexis, managing deadlines, and preparing cases for mediation or trial.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the Washington State Bar is required.
• 1–10 years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience in insurance defense or liability matters a plus.
• Strong legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Take and defend depositions; attend hearings and mediations.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs and legal correspondence.
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis and Nexis.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Review and analyze documents for production.
• Investigate claims and develop case strategies.
• Provide regular updates to clients, including insurers.
• Prepare cases for mediation and trial and participate in proceedings.
