Job summary

Bay Area Legal Services, Inc. seeks an Intake Screener in the Centralized Telephone Intake Unit. The role supports low-income clients by assessing legal problems and guiding them to appropriate services.

The position offers a hybrid schedule (2 days in-office, 3 days remote) with 60% remote work after training. Ybor City location in Tampa, FL, with a minimum hourly rate of $17.25 and opportunities for incentive bonuses.

Qualifications

• Bi-lingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
• Experience in nonprofit settings and call centers is preferred.
• Strong data entry and typing skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Initial assess applicants' legal problems over the telephone.
• Check conflicts of interest and determine eligibility per funding criteria.
• Process online applications and verify financial eligibility.
• Inform applicants of ineligibility and refer to other resources.
• Schedule CTI unit appointments for eligible applicants.
• Route emergency or grant-qualified cases to full-service teams.
• Assist with training new screeners as requested.
