Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Co. seeks a Reactor Vessel Internals - Principal Engineer to perform design and analyses for repair, modification, and qualification of components within the primary pressure boundary of Westinghouse reactors.

Location: Cranberry Township, PA; hybrid work model. Requirements include a BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field, PE license, 8+ years of experience, and proficiency with ASME III/XI and FEA tools such as ANSYS.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or Aerospace Engineering; alternate degrees with component design experience accepted.
• Registered Mechanical PE.
• Minimum 8 years of applicable experience.
• Experience with ASME Section III and Section XI criteria.
• Experience with FEA and ANSYS.

Responsibilities

• Perform design and analyses for repair, modification and qualification of components within the primary pressure boundary of Westinghouse-designed nuclear power plants, including AP1000 and AP300.
• Use finite element analyses (e.g., ANSYS) and hand calculations to qualify component design.
• Lead a technical team to project completion while meeting safety, quality, schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with other component, system, and manufacturing on integration of subsystems and design issues.
• Support plant refueling outages, including on-site and remote shifts.
