Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer for a hybrid role in Troy, MI or Highland Heights, OH. You will lead embedded firmware development in C/C++, mentor engineers, and shape software strategy across precision electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities include RTOS-based development, device drivers (CAN, I2C, UART, SPI), Embedded Linux where applicable, and collaboration with validation, electrical, and product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• Experience in embedded firmware/software with C/C++.
• Experience with embedded devices and Embedded Linux platforms.
• RTOS development experience.
• Strong ARM-based architecture knowledge (Cortex-M3/M4, i.MX).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ for embedded devices and industrial systems.
• Develop and debug device drivers and interfaces (CAN, I2C, UART, SPI).
• Support Embedded Linux environments and RTOS-based applications.
• Collaborate with validation, electrical, systems, and product teams to ensure robust performance.
• Mentor software engineers and drive coding standards and best practices.
