Job summary

Foley & Lardner LLP seeks a Lateral Conflicts Analyst to manage the conflicts research and identification process for onboarding new and lateral attorneys across multiple offices, including Chicago and Denver. You will ensure ethical conflicts are resolved before hiring and assist with portable or prospective client matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of conflicts analysis experience required.
  • Experience with lateral conflicts analysis #LI-Hybrid

Responsibilities

  • Prepares initial conflicts summaries and identification of potential conflicts of interest for lateral attorneys and non-lawyers who are not bringing portable clients to the firm; supports sponsoring attorneys in resolution and waiver letters; includes research on client and matter information.
  • Prepares initial conflicts summaries and identification for lateral partners bringing portable clients to the firm; checks former clients and non-portable target clients for potential conflicts.
  • Maintain and organize several lateral candidate files and provide status updates on short notice.
  • After a lateral partner joins, assist in expediting opening of priority portable clients with the partner and his/her assistant.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy General Counsel to ensure conflicts are identified and communicated before start date.
  • Coordinate with CNB Senior Manager to ensure ethics screens are erected for new hires.
  • Work with sponsoring attorneys, recruiting staff and candidates as needed.
  • Ensure communication between CNB and Information Governance/transfer teams regarding onboarding of lateral files and transfer clients.
  • Assist with other duties related to conflicts resolution and regular new business of the firm.
  • Support CNB Senior Manager with research requests and other projects.
  • Prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
