Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Junior Network Engineer in the Durham, NC area to support day-to-day network operations and on‑premises infrastructure within a hybrid environment. You will work with switches, routers and firewalls, perform Layer 1 maintenance, assist CSP integrations, and help ensure network reliability across multiple locations.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in systems administration or network support, CCNA or equivalent, and must be eligible to obtain a secret clearance; the

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in systems administration, network support, or network engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Layer 1 networking, patching, cabling, and physical infrastructure support.
• Familiarity with enterprise networking concepts and equipment.
• CCNA certification or equivalent networking knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Perform network maintenance activities including patching, cabling, and Layer 1 troubleshooting.
• Support and maintain on-premises network infrastructure and connectivity solutions.
• Assist with the integration of cloud service provider environments within a hybrid infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot network, hardware, and connectivity issues across multiple locations and technologies.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and systems teams to ensure network reliability and performance.
• Monitor and document network configurations, procedures, and changes.
• Provide hands-on support for network equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
