Job summary

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) in Itasca, IL, is seeking a Production Editor to support content and production workflows for Pediatrics. The role involves coordination with vendors, platform troubleshooting, and ensuring compliant formatting and publication processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, publishing, journalism, English, communications, marketing, or related discipline.
• At least two years’ related experience in website/digital production and/or print and online editorial publishing production.
• Strong written/verbal communication, diplomacy, interpersonal, project management, and organizational skills; ability to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with manuscript check-in, assigning new manuscripts, and peer-review production support.
• Review monthly online journal titles and TOCs for quality control and formatting; resolve content issues with vendors and editors.
• Serve as liaison for platform vendors and provide support to journal staff on platform requests.
• Coordinate CME quizzes, manage vendor production, and troubleshoot user access issues.
• Quality check database indexers for proper deposition in external databases.
• Package journal content and deposit to licensing partners; coordinate updates with editors.
