Zenith Insurance Company is seeking a Java developer for a hybrid role based in Roseville, CA. You will design, build, test, and maintain Java applications aligned with business requirements, collaborating with analysts and QA teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes production support, code reviews, and adherence to secure coding practices, with a strong focus on Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST APIs, and cloud/delivery tooling.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java development and maintenance in production environments.
• Experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate frameworks.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and data formats (JSON/XML).
• Exposure to unit-testing frameworks (JUnit/Mockito).
• Experience with build tools (Maven/Gradle).
• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
• Familiarity with Vue.js.
• Basic AWS/Azure understanding.
• Insurance industry knowledge beneficial.
• Secure coding practices incl. OWASP Top 10.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java applications per business requirements and specs.
• Write and debug SQL to support functionality, validate data.
• Troubleshoot defects by reviewing code and logs.
• Develop and maintain unit tests and support testing.
• Participate in code reviews and follow security and change-management practices.
• Document changes and communicate progress and dependencies.
• Assist deployments and production issue resolution as needed.
• Collaborate with teammates and adapt to feedback.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
